A MUST, AND A DREAM

These traditional craft are among the best-known tourist attractions for those wishing to experience a view of Venice that is anything but pedestrian. They are used almost exclusively by tourists, and Venetians on their wedding days.

SERVICE

What kind of gondola?

The only official organisation Associazione Gondolieri offers 10 standard city tours on the so-called da nolo gondolas (the most elegant ones, symbol of the city), covering the area from the main train station to St. Mark’s Square.

Gondole traghetto, or ferry gondolas, are less elegant and more useful: they are used by passengers to go to and from each side of Grand Canal, mostly on transport strike days, more frequent in Italy than in other countries.

Official fees
Daytime personalised and standard tours (30 minutes – maximum 6 people per gondola) cost approximately € 80.00, night time personalised and standard tours (35 minutes – maximum 6 people per gondola) start from 7pm until 8am and are charged € 100.00

The official fee of a ferry gondolas (one way) is € 0,50. 2017: the service is not working on 25 and 26 Dec, 1 Jan, 15 Aug. It will finish at 1pm on 24 and 31 Dec.

How to book a gondola
You can directly ask a free gondolier or get some help from your concierge.

OUR TIP:

Before embarking, we suggest that you check official and up-to-date rates by Associazione dei Gondolieri here. A piece of advice: price, time limit and singing should be agreed in advance in order to avoid unexpected surcharges.

You run into da nolo gondolas while wandering around Venice, or you can ask your concierge for help.

The landing stages of the ferry gondolas are Campo Santa Sofia, Riva del Carbon, Campo S. Tomà, Campo Santa Maria del Giglio, Punta della Dogana, San Samuele. Each point has a different timetable, but all of them are surely open from 9 to 10.30am.
