The dark centuries of Venice
Justice and punishment in Venice, amidst torture, inquisitions, legends and historical events. The exhibition, spread over an entire floor of the Gothic Palazzo Zaguri, reveals the secrets and darker side of Venice. It tells the story of the criminal justice system of the Serenissima between the 13th and 18th centuries through unique artifacts, historical replicas and evocative reconstructions. The itinerary winds amidst prison cells, instruments of death and torture, documents and plastinated bodies, accompanied by in-depth historical and educational annotations.
