A period palace seat of a five-star hotel and hosting a top-notch restaurant overlooking the lagoon
An ancient Roman coin depicting Antinoo –a young Greek centurion deified by Emperor Hadrian following his premature death – and unearthed by chance in the foundations of the hotel – inspired its owners to call it the Centurion Palace. Housed in a century-old Venetian palazzo overlooking the water, this luxury hotel boasts a stunning Venetian-Gothic façade reminiscent of its ancient past. Once inside, guests will find themselves projected into a future where each item of its decor has been customized exclusively for their pleasure.
On one side, the placid waters of the lagoon and, on the other, the mysterious alleyways of Venice, leading to two of the city’s most stunning modern museums, the Peggy Guggenheim and the new Punta della Dogana hub. A member of the prestigious Sina Hotels Group, this luxury five-star property welcomes guests with fifty ‘extravagantly eccentric’ rooms and suites, each individually styled with splashes of vibrant colours – including turquoise, purple, red and orange – and luxurious details including huge mirrors and bathrooms in burnished gold leaf, one of the hotel’s signature features.
Overlooking the Grand Canal, the hotel’s calmly minimalist, white-clad Antinoo’s Lounge & Restaurant, illuminated in the evening by the warm light of candles, offers a mixture of traditional Venetian and contemporary cuisine.
